He had been given an assignment to kill someone. Their last location had been in Fallarbor Town. However it seemed the target had been tipped off that his life was in danger and he had taken off towards Route 113. Which was just great. No telling where he was hiding out.

He wasn’t about to let his target get away. No way was he going to return back to base with a failed mission. Dorian, who was his partner this time around, would know that very well. So he was sure the older male wasn’t surprised when he took off after him.

If Dorian followed he would catch up with Ryker only a few minutes later. The brunette hadn’t gone to far. He had in fact stopped as he tried to figure out where his target could’ve gone to. If only there was a way to flush him out. Make him try to head back towards town or head towards Meteor Falls.

Either way he would be able to catch up to him before he reached his destination. But he wasn’t sure how they could go about doing that. He supposed his friend might know.

It seemed that their target wasn't going to make things easy for them.

Somehow, they had been tipped off of their arrival, and fled into the wilderness. This created a conundrum, as they could be hiding out anywhere.

As annoyed that Dorian might've been with his partner taking off, he admired the man's persistence and determination to see the job through. Thankfully, it didn't take him long to catch up with the assassin.

A wicked grin formed on the Mad Dog's face, as the assassin asked about flushing him out.

"Why, I have just the thing!", Dorian told Ryker, before flying off on his Charizard.

He would immediately begin to hose the area down with Flamethrower from above, targeting dry and dead foliage, in order to start a wildfire.

Subtle? Not at all. But with the plague of forest fires started in the heatwave, they had some plausible deniability to take advantage of.

Luckily the older male had an idea of what they could do. Before he could inquire what it was Dorian had already taken off on his Charizard. It was only after he had started to set fire to the area that he realized what he was doing. It was pretty smart considering the recent wild fires in the region so it was something that could be written off.

Feeling he needed a better vantage point, as things caught fire, he released his own Charizard and took to the sky. He just hovered their thought as his amber gaze scanned the flames. If the flames wouldn’t flush him out then the smoke would. More than likely the smoke would flush him out before the flames could. After all the smoke would make it hard to breathe.

Not much time passed before he saw a flicker of movement among the flames. His eyes zeroed in in the movement and he saw a human sized silhouette break cover and take off towards Meteor Falls. And since both him and Dorian were in the air it had to be the target.

He signaled that their target was on the move and headed towards Meteor Falls. Of course on his Charizard he would be able to hear him off before he even reached the entrance to the cave. Maybe even before he reached the base. Considering the target would be struggling to run with a lack of oxygen.

”I’m going to head him off,” he told the older male as he neared him. Once past Dorian he would push Apollo to go fast and he quickly flew through the air. Looking down he could see they were gaining on the target and would be able to cut off his route to Meteor Falls before he even reached the base.[break] dorian westcliff

Dorian's little plan seemed to work. The smoke generated from the fire alone was plenty to flush out the target. On top of that, running in such conditions was a fool's errand. The target would surely peter himself out before he reached his destination.

Putting on a mask over his face, Dorian turned to his partner. "I'll continue to bottleneck and chase him down!", Dorian called out to Ryker.

His Charizard would hound the man, spraying Flamethrower onto potential forks in the road, in order to force the man on a linear path. Area denial was one boon of Fire, after all.

Dorian continued to toy with their victim, at least until Ryker was ready to strike.

His only response was a nod and he sat back watching as Dorian hounded the man keeping him from running in certain directions. He let the older male have a bit of fun tormenting the target before making his move. Flying over to where the target was he allowed Apollo to hover over the area with target before dropping down. He landed gracefully his knees bent a bit to absorb the impact.

He didn’t need to look to know that Apollo had rose up higher in the air, so the wind from his wings wouldn’t fan the flame, after he had jumped of his back. Upon landing he withdrew his swords raising one to block the stick he had tried to hit him with. Before he could make another attempt at hitting him with the stick he cut it in half with his sword.

The target would then pull out a knife making him raise a brow. He was starting to wonder if this guy had been dropped on his head as a baby. Because first he attacked him with a branch and now he wants to use a knife. None of the weapons he chose were good to use against someone that was using swords.

While usually he would just end the fight before it really got started the target had led them on a bit of a chase. So the least he could do was get a bit of entertainment before he killed the target. Sheathing his swords he awaited the guy to make a move.

The those that didn’t know him they would think he had just disarmed himself. But to those who knew him that would know he wasn’t really disarmed. [break] dorian westcliff

Once their prey had been cornered, and Ryker had made his move, Dorian and Flaming Lizzy remained airborne, watching the confrontation unfold. As he watched the assassin toy with his quarry, Dorian realized just how much he missed watching the younger man work. It reminded him of their time together in Orre.

Only this time, they would make it to the top together.

Having worked with him in their youth, Dorian knew what was coming next.

At first he didn’t do anything but dodge the swipes from the knife. To anyone that didn’t know him they would think he was on the defense. But if one were to really pay attention, and notice the ease with which he moved they would realize he was just toying with his target. And knew exactly what he was doing. He knew that. Dorian knew that. But the target who would have no way of knowing his fighting style wouldn’t know that.

It was a little too easy to tell the target had no idea he was being toyed with. His smug look was plenty indicative of that. Now that the target that he had of chance of actually winning it was time to stop messing around. When the target swung the blade at a downward arch once more he raised his right arm as of to stop the blade. Like he planned to use his hand to stop the blade.

Instead of the blade hitting flesh though there was the sound of metal hitting metal. The target’s smug look faltered to be replaced with one of surprise. Before he recovered he knocked his knife out of his hand before swinging his right hand towards his chest.

After he did it became obvious what had stopped his knife. A hidden blade that was now buried in the targets chest.[break] dorian westcliff

Dorian watched as the man swung his blade at Ryker. While it might've looked like he had the assassin on the defensive, that was far from the truth. No, Dorian knew well enough that Ryker was merely toying with his victim. The fact that the man thought he had a chance was even funnier.

As the hidden blade came out, Dorian clapped and cheered. Laughter erupted from the skies above, as the assassin claimed the life.

"Man, how I missed this!", Dorian called out.

The target was dead. It had been a pretty easy death. Clean and simple as well. Then again that was business as usual for him. Less evidence to have to cover up that way.

Hearing the older males comment he nodded. “Just like old times,” he agreed his attention going back to the targets body. Cleaning the blade off on the targets clothes he pushed the body with his foot into it rolled into the flames. The flames could take the body erasing what had happened.

Anyone who came across the body would just assume he was unlucky. That he had just gotten caught up into the fire and had been consumed by the flames. A got way to coverup what had really happened.

He watched the flames consume the body for a bit before turning to Dorian. ”I guess we should head back to the base. I’m sure the league has been tipped off about the fire by now and is on their way. We don’t want to be caught here when they arrive,” he pointed out before getting back onto Apollo.[break] dorian westcliff
